Nottingham legend, Colin Slater MBE, will be officially opening the new Friends of QMC charity shop this Saturday, 29th June at 11am. The new shop will bring in vital funds for the charity who have donated over £1million to Nottingham’s QMC hospital since it’s formation in 1978 when the doors of QMC first opened to patients.
The Friends of QMC, who are an independent charity run by volunteers, currently run a successful charity shop in Keyworth. This new shop based at Hillside shopping precinct on Derby Road, just 10 minutes’ walk from the hospital, will significantly grow the charity’s income and ability to support the needs of staff, patients and carers of QMC.

Colin who has covered over 2,000 Notts County matches for Radio Nottingham has reported and commentated on football matches at the club since 1959. Colin said he is ‘delighted to be involved’ in the opening of the new charity shop and will be available for comment on the day. The opening will take place from 11am – 3pm this Saturdayand there will be fizz and cake available to mark the occasion. The shop will stock quality new and used clothing and items. There is an open invitation so anyone living and working in the local community, visiting or working at the QMC or studying or working at Nottingham University are welcome to come along on Saturday.
